What is Oracle Database 10g?

Oracle8 Database and before were just Oracle Database. Oracle8i Database and Oracle9i Database were Oracle Internet Database. Oracle Database 10g is Oracle Database 10 Grid. Oracle Database 10g is designed for use on computer grids, incorporating all sorts of different types of applications, including integrated messaging, enhanced scalability and performance plus automated storage management.

This book can be read in part, or in whole by reading each of the separate parts. However, it is not a reference manual so it is best read from start to finish because there is a lot of crossover between the three different disciplines. To start learning from a development perspective and pass through to a production perspective later on, I would suggest starting with data model tuning in Part I. Let's get started with relational data model tuning.
