Chapter 11. Post-Mortem: How Will We Improve the Next Version?

Chapter 11. Post-Mortem: How Will We Improve the Next Version?

Post-mortem isn't a phase in RUP ”it's an activity. Every project team deserves a good post-mortem review of the project. During this review, you try to learn how to improve your individual and team process in preparation for your next project. This chapter presents observations from the PSP Tools team's post-mortem. We also performed some activities after the Transition phase to clean up our artifacts so they are ready for the next release. The chapter also serves as a post-mortem for our story.

The actual PSP Tools project didn't happen in real time. Real life and real jobs intervened. At the end of each chapter, we have estimated how long it would have taken had we worked on the project full time. Someone asked us what we would do differently given the changes in technology and other areas that occurred during the period we built the product. We include a section that presents our ideas about these changes. We end, as all projects should, with our observations and a look to the future of PSP Tools.
