Section 15.5. Phase 3: Hand Off to iDVD

15.5. Phase 3: Hand Off to iDVD

Once you've added your chapter markers in iMovie, you're ready to hand off the whole thing to iDVD, where you can do your menu design and DVD burning.

Start by saving your iMovie projecta necessary step before handing off to iDVD. Then click the Create iDVD Project button at the bottom of the chapter list. If your movie contains slow motion, fast motion, or reverse-motion clips, you'll be asked if you want them to be rendered for better quality. Say yes.

Your hard drive whirs, thunder rolls somewhere, and after a few moments, you wind up in iDVD itself. If this is your first time using iDVD, the factory-setting design is called Travel 1, in which empty postcards scroll slowly from right to left, confirming your arrival in iDVD land (Figure 15-7); if you've run iDVD before, you see whatever design theme you used last. (Those "postcards" are actually drop zones areas of the design that you can fill with your own pictures or movies.)

Tip: To turn off the Apple logo that appears in the lower-right corner of every iDVD Project, choose iDVD Preferences and turn off "Show Apple logo watermark."
