Auditioning Loops with a Song

team bbl

Now that you have found three different cowbell loops and set up a cycle region, we can audition the cowbell loops to see which, if any, sounds best with the song in the Timeline.

1.

Click the Play button to start playing the cycle region in the Timeline, if it's not already playing.

2.

Select the first cowbell loop in the search results to hear it with the song.

3.

Press the down arrow key to move down to the next cowbell sound in the search results.

4.

Press the down arrow again to audition the last sound.

5.

Use the up and down arrow keys to move between the different cowbell sounds and find your favorite.

6.

Press the spacebar to stop playback of both the loops and the song.

Once you have auditioned your loops and selected one that works, you can add it to the Timeline and make it part of the song. That will be the first thing we do in the next lesson.

To finish off this lesson, let's take a moment to close up the cycle region and the Loop Browser.

7.

Click the Cycle button in the transport controls to hide and close the cycle region.

8.

Click the Loop Browser button to close the Loop Browser.

Congratulations! You now have a basic working knowledge of the GarageBand interface and are ready to start working with tracks in the Timeline.
