Finishing the Project

To finish this project, all we need to do is add the Photographer Title object on a new layer. I built the title as a Motion project and then exported it as a movie file.

You'll find the Photographer Title object in the Lesson_03 folder in the File Browser.

You'll apply the skills you've learned in this lesson to finish the project.

NOTE

If you did not complete the previous exercises and wish to continue the lesson from this point, close your current project and open 3-6 Blend Modes from the Lesson_03 folder.

1.

Press Shift-Cmd-A to deselect everything in the project.

2.

Hide the layer contents on the Layers tab by clicking the disclosure triangle for any open layers.

3.

Click the Add new layer (+) button on the Layers tab to create a new layer.

4.

Change the name of the new layer to Title.

5.

Press Cmd-1 to open the File Browser, if it's not already open.

6.

Drag the Photographer Title.mov file from the File Browser to the Title layer on the Layers tab.

Yikes! The title has a black background and covers the entire project!

Fortunately, there is a blend mode for almost every occasion. The Screen Blend Mode will essentially remove any black pixels from the upper layer.

7.

Press D to open the Dashboard, if it's not already open.

8.

From the Blend Mode pop-up menu in the Dashboard, choose Screen.

The black is screened out of the top layer, revealing the other layers below.

NOTE

If your playback is very slow, it's because this project is so processor intensive. You'll learn how to render a project and export it in Lessons 10 and 11.

9.

Press Cmd-S to save your final project.

Congratulations! You've finished a very complex motion graphics project.

TIP

To make the photographs stand out even more against the background, select both the Top and Bottom sublayers and check the Drop Shadow box in the Dashboard.
