Transforming Objects

You can resize or transform objects on the Canvas using the Select/Transform tool. It's the tool at the left that looks like an arrow.

1.

On the toolbar, click the Select/Transform tool to select it, or press Shift-S.

The circle you created is now inside a bounding box with handles (dots) on the corners and edges. These handles are the points where you can transform the object.

NOTE

If you don't see the Select/Transform tool on the left, you may have opened a different tool accidentally. Click the tool button to open the pop-up menu and choose the Select/Transform tool, or press Shift-S.

2.

Drag any of the handles (dots) around the circle to change the size or proportions of the circle.

Chances are, you just turned your perfect circle into an oval again. That's okay; you can always undo your work.

3.

Press Cmd-Z to undo your last move if you transformed your circle.

If you transformed more than one part of the circle, undo as many times as necessary to get back to your original circle.

You can also use the Shift key to constrain proportions as you transform or resize an object, the same way you used it to constrain proportions when you created the object.

4.

Hold down Shift and click the handle at the upper right of the circle; drag to the left or right until the circle is approximately the same size as the white square in the Shapes object.

As you transform the size of an object, a box appears indicating the amount of change in the shape's size.
