Adding Files to the Canvas

You create composites by placing objects on top of each other. A good place to start is the background. There are two easy ways to add the background file from the File Browser to the Canvas window:

  • Select the file and click the Import button.

  • Drag the file from the File Browser to the Canvas window.

We'll use the drag-and-drop method to import the Background file. Then we'll use the Import button to add the Shapes file. We'll also use Motion's guides to align the Background object.

1.

In the File Browser, select the background.jpg file. Do not release the mouse.

2.

Drag the file to the center of the Canvas window.

A small green circle with a plus sign (+) appears to show you are adding a file to the Canvas.

NOTE

A yellow crosshairs appears in the Canvas when the object is centered.

3.

Release the mouse to add the Background file.

The Background file appears in the Canvas as a light blue rectangle the same size as the Canvas.
