The last exercise in this lesson is a news bumper for Hurricane Frances. It incorporates many of the skills that you've learned so far. When breaking news occurs, such as elections, wars, scandals, riots, wildfires, or hurricanes, the television stations create motion graphics bumpers to attract attention to the story. I live in Orlando, Florida, so I recently had the unique experience of three hurricanes and hundreds of news bumpers about the hurricanes in a very brief span of time. While I was trapped inside a boarded-up house watching countless hours of hurricane updates, I got the inspiration to re-create a hurricane bumper for this book as a real-world example of filters in Motion. This project includes actual Hurricane Frances footage that I shot with a digital camera and mini-DV camcorder. It's not the most exciting footage, but with filters you can make almost anything look more ominous and news bumperworthy. Your goal in this exercise is to use filters to colorize and add a border to some of the images. Then you'll apply an image mask to the center video image. Opening and Saving the ProjectLet's open the Frances start project in the Finder and view the finished movie. The Frances start project is located in the Frances subfolder of the Lesson_05 folder.
