Loading the Travel Clips for the Project

For this exercise, we have clips of three travel reporters. One reporting from San Francisco, one from New England, and one from Hawaii, each with their own corresponding "location" clip. Once the clips are brought in to the project, we'll then load each of these on the Timeline in the My Project panel in turn, along with its corresponding background location. Each clip has its own unique challenge, which we will discuss and remedy later in this chapter.

Add the Video Clips to the Project

Start Premiere Elements and create a new project called aroundtheworld.

Click the Get Media from button on the Media panel to access the Get Media From view, if it's not already active.

Select DVD, Digital Camera, Mobile Phone, Hard Drive Camcorder, Card Reader.

When the Media Downloader displays, click the Advanced Dialog button to switch to Advanced mode.

Select the following clips:

  • fallfoliage.avi

  • hawaii.avi

  • Hawaii_reporter.avi

  • NE_reporter.avi

  • sanfranpaintedhouses.avi

  • SF_reporter.avi

Click the Get Media button. Premiere Elements copies the clips you selected from the DVD onto your computer's hard drive and adds them to the Available Media list for this project.
