Adding the Foreground Clip

We are going to create a trick of the eye by adding the background to another track in the Timeline. By cropping this track, we will create the illusion that our elf is really in that world by making it appear as if she is moving among the objects there, when in reality she is ten times bigger than the objects and the objects are actually part of a still picture.

Drop the Background Clip Again, Now as the Foreground

Once again, select the elfgarden.bmp clip on the Media panel and drag on drop it onto the Timeline, this time onto the Video 3 track. Be sure that you drop it, or move it after you drop it, so that the head (front) of the clip is at the very beginning of the track.

Timesaver

If you don't have a Video 3 track, by dragging and dropping the clip in the blank area of the Timeline above the Video 2 track, Premiere Elements automatically creates a new track for the clip. You need at least a little space above the last track for this to work, so if there's no space at all, expand the My Project panel a bit first.

Adjust the length of the elfgarden.bmp clip on the Video 3 track so that it matches the duration of the elf.avi clip.

Adjust the length of the elfgarden.bmp clip on the Video 1 track, as well, so that it, too, matches the duration of the elf.avi clip.
