Creating a Fade Out for the Project


The final task for this project is to create a "fade to black" at the end. We'll use the Fade Out that's built in to every clip automatically with Premiere Elements. The default settings, however, aren't quite right (the fade out is too fast), so we'll make a small adjustment on the Timeline by dragging the keyframe on the clip.

Add a Final Fade Out to the transporterman.avi Clip

On the Timeline, click on the transporterman.avi clip on the Video 1 track to select it.

In the Properties panel for the clip, click the Fade Out button (shown below) under Opacity:

Click on the white keyframe in the video portion of the transporter.avi clip on the Video 1 track and drag it forward a bit, as shown in the illustration.

Tip

By dragging the keyframe forwardthat is, further in timethe fade out effect we just applied will therefore start later in the clip, which is what we want.
