Applying the Track Matte Key to the White Matte

In order for the transporter beam to actually appear superimposed on the still image so that the actor actually appears to be transported, we need to apply the Track Matte Key from the Keying effects in Premiere Elements. We'll apply the key to the White Matte clip and point it at the track holding the transporterbeam.avi clip.

Apply the Track Matte Key

Click on the Effects and Transitions button on the Media panel to change to the Effects and Transitions view.

In the text box on the Effects and Transitions panel, type matte.

Drag and drop the Track Matte Key from the Keying section of the Video Effects on to the White Matte clip on the Video 3 track on the Timeline.

In the Properties panel for the White Matte clip, click on the triangle next to the Track Matte Key to see the effect's controls.

From the Matte pull-down, select Video 4.

From the Composite Using pull-down, select Matte Luma.
