Animating the Clock Using Titles Clips in Sequence

Animating the clock involves nothing more than creating five duplicates of your original clock title clip, dragging and dropping the duplicates onto the Timeline in sequence, and "resetting" the time for each of the duplicate clips in sequence so that the clips, when played, will appear to be one "clock" ticking off the seconds leading up to eight o'clock: 07:59:55, 07:59:56, 07:59:57, 07:59:58, 07:59:59, 08:00:00...

Create Five Copies of the Title 02 Clip and Add Them to the Timeline

Right-click on the Title 02 clip on the Available Media view of the Media panel and select Duplicate from the contextual menu.

Right-click on the Title 02 Copy clip you just created and select Rename from the contextual menu.

Rename the clip 56.

Drag the 56 clip to the Timeline, directly next to the Title 02 clip.

Double-click on the 56 clip to open the Titler.

Change the clock readout for this clip so that it reads 07:59:56.

Create four additional titles in the same way by repeating Steps 1 through 6 until you have title clips on the Timeline named 57, 58, 59, and 8:00. Edit the clips on the Timeline using the Titler so that the clips read as follows:

  • 57 Clip

: 07:59:57

  • 58 Clip

: 07:59:58

  • 59 Clip

: 07:59:59

  • 8:00 Clip

: 08:00:00

Tip

As you work, move the CTI over the latest "clock" clip on the Timeline so you can view your progress in the Monitor panel.
