Chapter 4. Dreamweaver MX Essentials
The one section I did not include in the preceding list is the map area. The map area is used to create image maps. Image maps are pretty straightforward; you can activate different regions of a single bitmap graphic to link to different pages and sites. To do so, choose the Map tool of choice and draw a shape, also known as a hot spot, over a particular region of the image. After you've drawn a shape, you can type a link into the Link text field of the Properties Inspector, as shown in Figure 4.38.

The rectangle map tool is used for drawing squares and rectangles, the oval tool is used for drawing circles (it can't draw ovals go figure), and the polygon tool is a free-form shape drawing tool.
