ColdFusion is a powerful, yet relatively easy to use, server-side technology. It is well supported by Dreamweaver MX, which has now been designated as the preferred development environment for ColdFusion by Macromedia. ColdFusion uses tags that look like HTML to code up server-side functionality. These tags are known as ColdFusion Markup Language (CFML) and are supported by many other ColdFusion utilities, including a language-within-a-language called CFScript. All the server behaviors in Dreamweaver support ColdFusion, making it easy to learn how to code your own ColdFusion pages. If you want to hand code your ColdFusion pages, Dreamweaver MX provides plenty of support. The Tag Chooser enables you to choose the correct tags, read about the right use of the tag, and insert the correct attributes. Code snippets also provide a useful way to re-use your code or let other team members use it. Finally, after you have constructed the page, Dreamweaver's integrated ColdFusion debugger lets you find, and quickly fix, any errors in the code. |
