Common practice in Web development is to make a variety of pages, intended for users using different browser versions. The Check Browser behavior allows you to check what the end user is using for a browser and redirect the user to the appropriate page. As you can see in Figure 19.10, there are several options for redirecting the user to different pages. Figure 19.10. The Check Browser behavior is ideal for catering to a broader audience of browsers and platforms. Toward the bottom of the dialog box, you can set two URLs a default and an alternate. Above that, you can set the browser versions to check for both Netscape and Internet Explorer. Depending on which browser the end user has, you can either direct the user to the URL or Alt URL. Normally, you would attach this behavior to the body tag, so choose onLoad and you'll be able to check to see what browser version the end user has. This behavior is best used when checking for 4.0 browsers. If you need to check for a 3.0 browser, the behavior isn't compatible with Internet Explorer 3 on the Macintosh. |
