Chapter 12. DHTML
DHTML and the timeline offer the traditional Web developer the opportunity to create engaging, interactive Web sites. As previously mentioned, the capabilities are nowhere near what Flash and Shockwave content is, but it does provide a solution that doesn't require a plug-in or ActiveX control.
As with all rich media, make sure your project requires such interactivity with the end user. DHTML is simply a tool, like any other, to communicate your message with a viewer. If that gets confused with "Hey, look at my logo flying around, because it's cool, but doesn't really serve a purpose," then you failed as a Web developer.
The timeline can be a powerful addition to your Web site designs when used properly and effectively.
