Why would a hacker want to beef up security on a system that he has broken into? Well, there is nothing worse for a skilled hacker than being found out because some neophyte hacker broke into a system that the skilled hacker was using. Once a hacker is on a system, he won't want to share it with other hackers. Each system that he can control gives him greater capabilities to get elsewhere. So he will want to close all the easy holes, add a few new ones just for himself, and keep the system manager happy, thinking that nothing is happening on the system. It is not advisable to let hackers on your system to help you beef up your security. However, a number of security professionals got their expertise on the ins and outs of security while hacking. |
