Follow-up communication is as critical to the perception of the incident as any other aspect. Follow-ups should be handled by those individuals who have been identified to coordinate with outside organizations. These may include affected partners , emergency response personnel, the news media, and law enforcement.

News Media

If the incident is made public, the channel of communication to the news media is paramount to the public perception of the incident. Only a designated spokesperson with experience in handling the media should speak to reporters ” preferably the chief public relations officer of the organization.
