Even the most current version of an operating systems has patches. These patches can address flaws in software, support for new hardware, and enhancements which are not significant enough to warrant a new release of the software. Patches apply to specific sets of hardware or software, so not all patches are needed on all machines. You should install only the patches which are pertinent to the system. HP-UX Support Plus BundleThe Support Plus CD contains the General Release patches. This is an accumulation of the patches which have been released since the latest HP-UX release. The install CD contained a recent set of patches from when the media was produced. Mount the Support Plus CD and use swinstall to install the GR bundle XSWGR1100. LinuxThe Red Hat Update Agent, up2date , can retrieve the latest software packages directly from Red Hat. This tool can be used to keep the system up-to-date with all security patches, bug fixes, and software package enhancements. Your system will have to be configured with the current Red Hat GNU Privacy Guard (GPG) key to verify the authenticity and integrity of the software being downloaded. |
