Chapter 10. PNNI Implementation and Provision

This and the following chapters cover configuring ATM Forum services in multiservice switching platforms. All the concepts from Chapters 8 and 9 are projected into actual equipment configurations.

In this chapter, you set up a complete PNNI network composed of four PNNI nodes. The PNNI nodes are implemented with four different platforms: a Service Expansion Shelf (SES) controller and BPX-8600 node, a PXM-45-based MGX-8850, an MGX-8950, and a Cisco IOS Software-based PNNI node. Network Clock Distribution Protocol (NCDP) provides timing distribution.

This PNNI network provides SVC- and SPVC-based ATM services among three routers.
