Core Bandwidth Concerns

When redundant trunks are implemented between the core switches in a PNNI network, the administrator's awareness of the average percentage load on each trunk is critical to ensuring connectivity when individual trunks fail. A target percentage load per trunk of 40 percent to 50 percent ensures that if one of two parallel trunks fails, the other one can withstand the full connection load of both trunks while repairs are completed. It is better for connections to reroute rather than fail because of lack of available bandwidth.
