This chapter describes a number of problems you might encounter when using SQL-NS. For each problem described, the underlying causes and recommended solutions are given. Of course, you may well run into problems that are not covered here. In those cases, you might find descriptions of related problems and solutions in this chapter that could help you.

Even if you can't find anything directly relevant to the particular problem you're experiencing in this chapter, it is my hope that the general approach to problem diagnosis and debugging described here (and throughout this book) will aid you in finding your own solutions. SQL-NS troubleshooting can be daunting at first but gets easier as you learn more about the way the system works. Every problem you encounter can be a learning experience. I encourage you to always look beyond the surface of the problems you run into and use every one of them to build on your SQL-NS knowledge.
