Back Cover
Filled with tips, techniques, and solutions for implementing the hottest technology around - Cisco's new generation of routers that are designed to handle IP multicasting - this is the one book you'll need to successfully deploy IP multicasting. The important protocols for multicast service are covered in detail, including:
  • Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP)
  • Cisco Group Management Protocol (CGMP)
  • Distance Vector Multicast Routing Protocol (DVMRP)
  • Protocol Independent Multicast Protocol (PIM)
  • Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP)

In addition, each chapter that covers a protocol also contains valuable information on all Cisco router commands for configuring, monitoring, and debugging that protocol. Real-world scenarios are included, giving you practical, hands-on knowledge of IP multicasting. Cisco Multicast provides:

  • A complete understanding of unicast, broadcast, and multicast IP addressing
  • Step-by-step guidance on how to deploy and troubleshoot multicasting in a Cisco environment
  • Complete coverage of current and future intranet multicast routing

For those who need to know how to deploy IP multicasting now, this is the definitive book for examining the protocols that make multicasting possible and for building networks that can implement multicasting efficiently.
