Exercises

  1. Open your MyProject.camproj file from the previous chapter. If you skipped those exercises, you’ll find an exported project called image from book MyProject_ch11.zip in this chapter’s media folder.

  2. If you don’t own a camcorder or webcam, and thus weren’t able to create a PIP clip in the previous chapter, feel free to use the image from book PIP.wmv clip located in this chapter’s media folder. Import this file into your Clip Bin, and then add it your Timeline to coincide with your ending title clip.

  3. If needed, toggle your PIP Preview Placement to display your PIP window inside your Video Preview. Change the size and location of your PIP video to fill up a good portion of the title clip while keeping all your “Thank you…” text in plain view. Give the PIP window a colored border as well as a drop shadow.

  4. Add a Radial Wipe transition between your image from book 06.camrec and image from book 07.avi files to indicate that time has passed in production. Feel free to experiment with other transitions if desired. Note that you may need to split and move parts of your audio narration in order to keep it in sync with your video. Don’t forget to lock the Video track, or that content will be split as well.

  5. Add a Flash hot spot callout to your image from book 02.jpg clip that states Click here to download more MenuMaker templates. Link it to the following URL: http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia/accessories/mmtemplates.asp.

  6. From this chapter’s media folder, import image from book CD.png as a custom callout. Insert this callout during image from book 07.avi, where the narration says Now you’re ready to burn to CD- or DVD-ROM using your favorite burning application.

  7. In your image from book 05.avi clip, zoom in on the Test Menu command just as it’s being clicked, and then zoom back out to show the menu that opens.

  8. Between your image from book 07.avi clip and your ending title clip, add a quiz to test users’ knowledge of the material covered. The questions can be multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, short-answer, or any combination thereof. They should obviously be related to the content, but can otherwise be anything you desire. Here are a few to use as a jumping-off point:

    • Where can you change the dimensions of your menu?

    • True or false? You can set up your navigation menu to run automatically upon insertion of the CD.

    • Camtasia MenuMaker is to CD-ROM what Camtasia _______is to the web.

    1. In this chapter’s media folder, you’ll find a file called image from book narration.doc that contains the entire narration script for the video. Use the Captions feature to turn this text into captions for your video.

    2. Save your project.
