Exporting Site Definitions

The Site Export function allows you to select a site from your list of sites and move it to another computer. This function is useful for many situations, including sharing sites with other team members or when you need to switch computers. Sites are saved as XML files, and all settings from the Site Definition dialog box are retained.

1.

Choose Site > Manage Sites and select the Yoga Sangha site in the Manage Sites dialog box. Click the Export button.

Tip

To export the current site, you can click the context menu on the Files panel (Macintosh) and choose Site > Export.

The Export Site dialog box opens, in which you can name the file and specify the location to save the exported site.

2.

Save the Exported Site file in a location outside of your Yoga Sangha site root folder.

The site is saved with the .ste extension. Do not delete or change this extension.

Conversely, you can use the Site Import function to import a site into Dreamweaver. To do so, choose Site > Import; then use the Import Site dialog box to find and select the site. You will be prompted to select a Local Root Folder. You can only import sites that have been exported from Dreamweaver as XML files with the .ste extension. The Export and Import features transfer settings from the Site Definition only; files are not transferred along with the site settings. To keep or include files in the transfer, you need to transfer your root folder with all your files to the new location in addition to exporting the site. If you are using the Local/Network remote access option, you might need to update the path to the remote folder in the imported site.
