The Value of Follow-Up

Figure A-1:

Ninety-nine percent of leaders who consistently followed up improved at some level, with 87 percent achieving a +2 or +3 rating compared with 17 percent of leaders who did not follow up. Only 2 percent of leaders who followed up consistently or occasionally stayed the same or became less effective as compared to 38 percent of leaders who did not follow up.

Organizations are now beginning to conduct research that ties the improvement ratings of a 360-degree process to hard data, such as turnover rates, increased productivity, improved customer satisfaction ratings, and a general improvement in return on investment. Another important correlation is that of the 360-degree data as compared to the data collected from an organizational assessment that measures what employees think about a particular topic, such as their work environment, quality, or a company’s business practices; when viewed together, it is common to see similarities in the overall scores within these two instruments. For example, Transparency Edge 360™ could be paired with an organizational assessment that measures how an organization’s employees think about its company’s transparency and credibility in business practices and management.
