Using the Tracker

All reviews you participate in are listed in a window called the Tracker. Both email-based and browser-based reviews are listed by filename, review type, and participants engaged in the review. You access files listed in the Tracker window to continue adding and receiving comments.

To see documents listed in the Tracker, you need to have at least one review in progress.

To use the Tracker:

1.

Select View > Tracker. Note that you do not need to have a document open in Adobe Reader to view the Tracker window.

2.

The Tracker window opens and lists files currently in review (Figure 15.10). Click a document in the Participant Reviews list.

3.

To open a document from the Tracker window, double-click a filename or select a file and click the Open tool. The file opens in Adobe Reader or your Web browser depending on whether the file is an email-based or browser-based review. Note that browser-based reviews are available only from PDF authors using ARES 7.

4.

If you have several reviews in progress, you may want to organize them in separate folders. To create a new folder, deselect any review currently selected by clicking outside the list of documents.

5.

The New Folder tool appears active when you deselect a file. Click the New Folder tool, and the New Folder dialog opens (Figure 15.11).

6.

Type a name for your new folder and click OK. A new folder appears in the Tracker window.

TIP

You can easily nest folders in the Tracker window. Click a folder name such as the Participant Reviews folder shown in Figure 15.10, and type a name for your folder in the New Folder dialog. Click OK and the new folder is nested under the selected folder (AdobeReader 7 in this example).

7.

To move a file into your new folder, click the filename and drag it to the folder in the Tracker window. The file appears listed in the target folder (Figure 15.12).

8.

When you want to delete a file from the Tracker, select a file to delete and click the Remove tool at the top of the window. Use the Collapse and Expand tools to close and open nested folders respectively.
