Loading Video Files

 < Day Day Up >

Before you can split, combine, or annotate your video files, you have to load them into the Album. Here's how.

To load captured files into the Album

  • If you just finished capturing video files, select the Edit tab to enter Edit mode.

The most recently captured video file appears in the Album.

To display other captured files in the Album

1.

Click the Move Up One Level folder icon (Figure 6.3).

Studio displays a list of other files captured in that folder.

2.

Double-click the file you want to display (Figure 6.4).

Figure 6.4. The Album lists all files stored in the selected folder, making it easy to switch among captured files. Double-click the video that you want displayed.

The selected file appears on the Video Scenes tab (Figure 6.5). Note that if it hasn't already done so, Studio performs scene detection on the new clip using whatever option is currently selected on the Capture Source tab (see Figure 3.6 in Chapter 3).

To display other videos in the Album

1.

Click the Directory icon to the right of the Album list box (Figure 6.6).

3.

Do one of the following:

  • Double-click the target file.

  • Select the target file with the pointer and click Open (Figure 6.9).

If it hasn't already done so, Studio performs scene detection on the selected clip using whatever option is currently chosen on the Capture Source tab.

If Studio can't display all of the scenes from that video on one page, it creates multiple pages. Move through the pages by clicking the arrows at the upper right and upper left of the Album pages.

Tips

  • Studio imports only AVI, MPEG-1, and MPEG-2 video files. Studio cannot import RealVideo, Windows Media, or QuickTime files or files saved in animated formats such as Autodesk's FLC format.

  • The Album can display only one video at a time. Although the Album can display multiple scenes from one video, you cannot import, combine, or otherwise display scenes in the Album from more than one video at a time.

  • You can't delete scenes or change their order in the Album. However, Studio provides a great tool for choosing and rearranging the order of your videos: the Storyboard view in the Movie window, which is discussed in Chapter 7.
