85 Creating Custom Output Presets in After Effects

#85 Creating Custom Output Presets in After Effects

When rendering multiple files to common encoding parameters in After Effects, you'll save oodles of time and irritation by creating custom output presets. The process is very simple once you've specified your output parameters as described in #84. After selecting all of your encoding parameters, and before clicking the Render Button, do the following:

1.

In the Render Queue, click the downward-pointing arrow next to Output Module to open the Output Module drop-down menu and choose Make Template (Figure 85a). After Effects will open the Output Module Templates dialog box.

Figure 85a. Click Make Template to create a new Template. Note the Rene preset, a previously created custom preset.

2.

In the Settings Name text box, enter a name for the setting (Figure 85b).

Figure 85b. Name your preset in the Settings Name text box.

Note

If you have not already set your encoding parameters before starting this process, click Edit, which will open the Output Module Settings dialog box shown in Figure 84b. Choose your settings as described in #84, click OK to close the dialog box, and move to the next step.

3.

Click OK to save the setting. Thereafter, you can select the preset by choosing it in the Output Module drop-down menu (like the Rene preset shown in Figure 85a).
