Expansion cards

Once you discover that you can carry MP3 files, software, lots of photos, audio books, videos, and even complete movies on your handheld, an expansion card becomes a necessity. Buy a high-capacity card to hold everything (at least for a while), or a few smaller ones if you want to keep different categories of things separate. Keep the dummy card in a safe place and use it when a card is not present.

Expansion card tips

  • Buy a case that includes expansion card storage slots.

  • Expansion cards are hot-swappable, which means you can eject or insert new cards any time the card is not in use.

  • SD expansion cards have a small locking tab on the side. Move it down to lock the card, preventing any changes.
