Manage and share photos

Edit photos on your computer to get them just right, and then synchronize to transfer them to your handheld. Now you can share them anytime, with anybody. By storing them on expansion cards, you can carry hundreds of photos on one slim handheld that's always with you.

Three ways to send and receive photos

  • Save photos to an expansion card, and share the card.

  • Beam photo files.

  • Sync with your PC and email photos.

Use the navigator

In the list or thumbnail view, press the center button to select a photo.

In the list view, press left to deselect; press right to go to Photo Details.

With a picture showing, press right or left to go to the next or previous one.

Direct photo viewing

If you have a digital camera that uses SD memory cards, you can slide a card into your handheld and show off your pictures on your handheld's larger screen.

Remove red-eye and crop photos

Click Editor in the Photos app in Palm Desktop to crop photos and remove red-eye. iPhoto for Mac has these features, too.

More freedom with photos

If you have a camera that uses SD expansion cards, you can take the card straight from the camera into your handheld for immediate, and much clearer, viewing. It's a great way to see which photos to delete on the camera. Sharing your photos can go far beyond just showing them off. If a friend or client has a palmOne handheld, you can easily beam photos to them.

Manage photos fast in Palm Desktop

Email

If email is enabled on your computer, select a photo; then click E-mail to send the photo from Palm Desktop.

Editor

Name your photos, crop them, adjust brightness, remove red-eye, and preview what the photo will look like on your handheld.

Photo details

Check size and resolution, and assign photos to albums. You can also add or read photo notes.

Zoom in or out

Use the magnifying glass at the lower left of the screen to zoom in and out of the photo when you want to see more detail.

Move photos to an expansion card

Insert an expansion card. Open Photos and tap the pick list in the upper-right corner.

Select an album and a photo. From the Photo menu, select Copy to Card.

Rotate big photos

If a hi-res photo takes too long to rotate on your handheld, rotate it in Palm Desktop before you synchronize it to your handheld.

Edit photos

The editing tools that come with Palm Desktop software can make you feel like a pro. Experiment with cropping, reducing red-eye, and adding text to touch up and salvage good shots with minor imperfections.

See photo details

On your handheld, from the list or thumbnail view, select Photos > Details to title a photo. This view is also available in Palm Desktop.

Sort photos

In the list view, tap Name to list photos in ascending order. Tap again to list in descending order. Tap Date to sort from oldest to most recent (or smallest to largest). Tap again to reverse the order.

Macs and photos

Mac users use iPhoto or another app, not Palm Desktop, to edit photos. Export pictures from iPhoto to the desktop, and then drag and drop them on the Send To Handheld droplet.
