When beaming doesn't work, the problem is usually easy to fix. Answer the questions below to identify some of the most common beaming problems. If you still have trouble beaming or receiving beams, visit www.palmOne.com/support for help.
Beam to a phone
You can beam single contacts from your handheld to an IR-equipped mobile phone. Be sure the phone's IR is turned on. Put the two devices close together, beam the entry from Contacts, and follow your phone's instructions for saving beamed info.
Beam to your TV
Some apps take creative advantage of beaming, including some very cool shareware and freeware. One program even turns your handheld into the ultimate universal remote control. For more about finding software online, see page 132.
Troubleshooting checklist
Do both devices have IR capability?
Do both devices have beaming turned on? From the Home screen, select Prefs > Power > Beam Receive > On.
Are the devices on a flat surface, pointed toward each other, no more than a meter apart but not touching?
Does the receiving device have enough memory to accommodate the beamed item?
Is another wireless device in use nearby, such as a wireless keyboard? If so, it may be interfering.
Are you beaming to a handheld with an older Palm OS? If so, some of the info you beamed may not be received.
Do any currently running apps disable beaming?
