Customers of advanced projects are always reluctant to agree to you closing the project. They are nervous about agreeing to the closure because they are concerned that after closure it will become difficult to get problems resolved. Customers correctly assume that the project team will be dispersed and there will no longer be a single point of contact, you, to champion their problem. You need to anticipate this nervousness and deal with it effectively. You can do this by developing plans that demonstrate that customer fears are unjustified. There are four areas that you need to be concerned with: maintenance planning, quality control, post-project review and final documentation. If each of these areas is dealt with effectively then you will be able to reassure your customer.
