To draw a shape on a slide

  1. In the Slide pane, click the slide on which you want to draw a shape.

  2. On the Drawing toolbar, click AutoShapes .

  3. Click the shape you want to draw.

  4. Position the crosshair pointer where you want the shape to be placed, and then drag to draw the shape.

To change the size of a shape

  1. Select the shape.

  2. Drag a sizing handle until the shape is the size you want (holding down the [SHIFT] key if you want to preserve the shape s proportions ).

To copy or move a shape

  1. Click the shape to select it.

  2. On the Standard toolbar, click the Copy button. To move the shape, click the Cut button.

  3. Position the insertion point where you want to paste the shape, and on the Standard toolbar, click the Paste button.

To add a fill effect to a shape

  1. Select the shape.

  2. On the Drawing toolbar, click the down arrow to the right of the Fill Color button, and click Fill Effects .

  3. Click the tab for the type of fill effect you want to apply.

  4. Click the textured fill you want to apply, and click OK .

To change the line color of a shape

  1. Select the shape.

  2. On the Drawing toolbar, click the down arrow to the right of the Line Color button, and click the color box you want.

To change the shadow style of a shape

  1. Select the shape.

  2. On the Drawing toolbar, click the Shadow Style button.

  3. On the Shadow Style menu, click the button for the shadow style you want to apply.

To change the font attributes of a shape

  1. Select the shape.

  2. On the Drawing toolbar, click the down arrow to the right of the Font Color button, and then click the color you want to apply.

  3. On the Formatting toolbar, click the down arrow to the right of the Font button, and then click the font you want to apply.

To align a shape with another shape

  1. Select the shapes.

  2. On the Drawing toolbar, click the Draw button, point to Align or Distribute , and then click Align Center .

To align a shape to guides

  1. On the View menu, click Grid and Guides .

  2. Select the Display grid on screen and Display drawing guides on screen check boxes, then click OK to close the Grid and Guides dialog box.

  3. Select the shapes, hold down the [SHIFT] key, and then drag the selected shapes to the left until their edges touch or snap to the grid.

To add a connecting line to shapes

  1. On the Drawing toolbar, click AutoShapes , point to Connectors , and then click the style of connecting line you want.

  2. Position the center of the pointer at the point in the first shape where you want to attach the connecting line, and then click the shape to select a connection point.

  3. Position the pointer at the point in the second shape where you want to attach the connecting line, and then click the shape to select another connection point.

To change the format of the connecting lines

  1. Select the connector lines.

  2. On the Drawing toolbar, click the Dash Style button, and then click a line style.

  3. On the Drawing toolbar, click the Line Style button, and then click a line style.

To change the stacking order of shapes

  1. Select the shape whose order you want to change.

  2. On the Drawing toolbar, click the Draw button, point to Order , and then click Send to Back , Bring to Front , or Send Backward .

To group shapes

  1. Drag a selection box around the shapes.

  2. On the Drawing toolbar, click the Draw button, and then click Group .
