While following the examples in the preceding chapters, you ve learned a lot about Word s formatting capabilities and how to combine formats to create professional-looking documents. However, there might be times when the needs of a particular document exceed Word s capabilities. That s when you will want to enlist the help of other programs to create visual elements and then import them into Word. In this chapter, we start by showing you how to create special effects with text and how you can incorporate graphics into Word documents. Then you learn how to create charts to visually present facts and figures. And for those times when you ve already set up information in a spreadsheet or database program and don t relish the thought of having to re-enter it in Word, we ll show you how to import a spread- sheet or database as a Word table.
The sample documents you create in this chapter are two types of letterhead. You can use these for press releases, newsletters, invitations, and announcements.
When you have finished this chapter, you will know how to:
Create special text-based effects
Enhance documents with graphics
Display charts and spreadsheets
