Chapter 3: Adding Visual Elements

Overview

As you followed the examples in the preceding chapters, you learned a lot about working with text and text frames and using styles to create professional-looking publications . However, text alone is often not enough to get your point across. Most promotional materials include visual elements, both to provide information and to catch the eye of the reader.

With all the clip art Publisher supplies , as well as WordArt, graphics from other applications, and Publisher s many drawing tools, you should have no trouble adding a dash of excitement to all your publications. Just remember to keep things simple; otherwise , your audience might start paying more attention to your artwork than to the message that you are ultimately trying to get across in your publication.

When you have finished with this chapter, you will know how to:

  • Create a brochure

  • Create a logo

  • Create fancy text effects with WordArt

  • Work with template tables

  • Work with graphics

  • Work with shapes
