Overview

Because of its many components , you might think that Microsoft Office would be difficult to master. Not so. An important aspect of this integrated suite is that you use the same techniques and commands in all the programs to carry out common tasks. Though each program has a particular focus, the techniques for tasks such as editing, formatting, saving, and printing are similar, and the experience you acquire with one program can be applied to another.

In this chapter, you work with Microsoft Word to create a letter. In the process, you learn basic techniques for working with all the Office programs.

When you have finished this chapter, you will know how to:

  • Start an Office program

  • Enter and select text

  • Give instructions using the mouse and keyboard
