The economics of the deployment of enterprise 802.11 networks may not be as obvious as a comparison of the installation and equipment costs of wired versus wireless. However, the advantages in employee efficiency justify the technology. There will be considerable debate over the next few years as to what model will propagate wireless broadband networks the soonest: a top-down model as driven by large multinational service providers or a bottom-up model driven by viral mom 'n pop service providers supported in a franchise-like distribution model. It is in the best national interest to deploy wireless broadband as quickly as possible in order for the U.S. economy (and any other national economy) to reap a $500 billion annual benefit.
