Test Structure

Because Citrix holds the exam questions confidentially, it may happen that you will come across a question that doesn't appear to have a correct answer. Citrix does try to quality-check the exam thoroughly, but without an outside review, some badly formulated questions may appear.

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do about this when you are taking the exam. You can't write the question down and take it with you, so I'd recommend trying to remember the question before you leave and check it out later. If you still believe the question to be in error, contact Citrix as soon as possible and try to work out a solution. This at least helps to keep others from having the same problem in the future.

There aren't supposed to be any multiple-choice questions that don't have any correct answers. There may be some that have multiple correct answers, but they should all have at least one. If you find a question that you think has no correct answers, pick the answer that is closest to being correct, and contact Citrix about the question after the exam.

Types of Test Questions

Citrix exams pose questions in a variety of formats, most of which are discussed here. As candidates progress to the more advanced certifications, the difficulty of the exam is intensified, both through the subject matter as well as the question formats.

True/False

The classic true/false question format is not used in the Citrix exams, for the obvious reason that a simple guess has a 50% chance of being correct. Instead, true/false questions are posed in multiple-choice format, requiring the candidate to identify the true or false statement from a group of selections.

Multiple Choice

Multiple choice is the primary format for questions in Citrix exams. These questions may be posed in a variety of ways.

'SELECT THE CORRECT ANSWER' This is the classic multiple choice question, where the candidate selects a single answer from a list of about four choices. In addition to the question's wording, the answers are presented in a Windows 'radio button' format.

'SELECT ALL THAT APPLY' The open-ended version is the most difficult multiple-choice format, since the candidate does not know how many answers should be selected. As with the multiple-answer version, all the correct answers must be selected to gain credit for the question. If too many answers are selected, no credit is given. This format presents choices in check box format, but the testing software does not advise the candidates whether they've selected the correct number of answers.

Fill in the Blank

Fill-in-the-blank questions are less common in Citrix exams. They may be presented in multiple-choice or freeform response format.

Tips on Taking the Exam

There are 40 questions on the exam. You will need to get at least 28 of them right in order to pass- just over 68 percent. You are given 60 minutes to complete the exam.

There are no penalties for wrong answers as opposed to incomplete answers, so it's better to at least attempt to answer than not to give one at all.

Tips on Studying for the Exam

First and foremost, give yourself plenty of time to study. MetaFrame is a unique platform, and you cannot expect to cram what you need to know into a single study session. It's a field best learned over time, by studying a subject and then applying your knowledge. Build yourself a study schedule and stick to it, but be reasonable about the pressure you put on yourself, especially if you're studying in addition to your regular duties at work.

Exam Watch

One easy technique to use in studying for certification exams is the 15-minutes per day effort. Simply study for a minimum of 15 minutes every day. It is a small, but significant commitment. If you have a day where you just can't focus, then give up a 15 minutes. If you have a day where it flows completely for you, study longer. As long as you have more of the 'flow days', your chances of succeeding are extremely high.

Another excellent way to study is through case studies. Case studies are articles or interactive discussions that offer real-world examples of how technology is applied to meet a need. These examples can server to cement your understanding of a technique or technology by seeing it put to use. Interactive discussions offer added value because you can also pose questions of your own. Citrix offers examples of its case studies at its Web Site (http://www.citrix.com/).
