Tab view

The tab view allows administrators to configure a number of parameters for each item simply by clicking on its associated tab within the tab view pane.

TCP/IP:

See Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol

Telephony Application Program Interface (TAPI)

A Microsoft and Intel programming interface. TAPI allows the user to connect with and use voice services on a server.

TemplateParser

This performs the substitution tag processing on text files. This allows for the customizing of ICA files before being presented to users.

Terminal Server

Terminal Server is a special edition of Windows NT that adds UNIX-like multiuser capabilities and support to Windows NT Server 4.0. The current version is Windows NT Server 4.0 Terminal Server Edition (code named Hydra).

Terminal Services

This is not installed by default under the Windows 2000 Server family operating systems and must be installed prior to installing MetaFrame XP.

Thinwire

Thinwire is a logical data stream that flows encapsulated in an ICA packet. ICA must guarantee the delivery of the thinwire data stream with no errors and no missing or out-of-sequence data. The output of the thinwire protocol driver is a logical data stream that is sent through a virtual channel API, which takes the data stream and encapsulates it into an ICA packet.

Thrashing

A high reading indicates the system is short on memory and accessing the page file too often. This condition is called thrashing. If this is the case, disk usage and paging counters will also be high. It could also mean that the system is overloaded, there are too many applications running that consume large amounts of memory, or an application or process is as fault.

Timeout settings

These can be configured to terminate connected, disconnected, or idle sessions after a given amount of time elapses. Administrators may wish to use a combination of these settings to keep users from inadvertently wasting server resources. Citrix users may not know the difference between disconnecting from a remote session and logging off from a session, in which case administrators may want to configure timeout settings so that disconnected sessions will be reset.

Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

A set of communications standards created by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) in the 1970s that has now become an accepted way to connect different types of computers in networks because the standards now support so many programs.

Tree view

A view which displays, for example, at the top of the left pane with all management tools or node items displayed beneath it.

Typical users

Typical Users are depicted as having one or two applications open at a time, and tend to be less sophisticated in their approach. One Power User is equivalent to two Typical Users in terms of processor utilization and RAM consumption. The exact processor, RAM and network bandwidth requirements cannot be accurately determined until a baseline using at least five users has been established. Citrix recommends an additional 8MB for each Power User and 4MB of RAM for each Typical User.
