Checklist

• Ensure that you understand how XML Signature differs from other forms of electronic signatures.

• Know what canonicalization is, and why it’s important.

• When choosing an XML security or Web Services security product, ensure that the product supports Exclusive Canonicalization.

• For applications which require the creation and validation of large volumes of XML Signature data, consider the use of hardware acceleration.

• Refer to the WS-Security chapter to understand how XML Signature is used in the WS-Security framework to ensure the integrity of security tokens in SOAP messages.
