Task 2: Exiting a Program

Click File , and then click the Exit command.

The program closes . Notice that the taskbar button for the program (here WordPad) has disappeared.

INTRODUCTION

When you finish working in a program, close it to free system memory. Too many open programs can tax your system's memory and slow the computer's processes, such as saving, printing, switching between programs, and so on.

More Ways to Close

You can also press Alt+F4 or click the Close button in the program's title bar to close a program.

Saving Your Work

If you have not saved a file and close that file's program, a message box appears asking if you want to save the file. If you do, click Yes ; if not, click No . If you want to return to the document, click Cancel .
