INTRODUCTION
You may be able to select certain options about how your monitor operates, such as the number of colors it displays or its resolution. (Resolution measures the number of pixels or picture elements displayed. An example of a common resolution is 800x600.)
TIP
Choices Vary
The available choices will depend on your equipment. If the settings you select don't look right, revert to the original ones.
TIP
No Risk
Windows will not let you choose an invalid screen resolution or number of colors, so you can play around with those settings until you're happy with the results.
Click the Apply button.
A dialog box opens, informing you that Windows is about to make the changes you specified. Click the OK button.
Windows reconfigures your monitor settings, but before making the change permanent, asks whether you're sure you want the change to remain . Click the Yes button.
TIP
Troubleshoot
Clicking the Troubleshoot button on the Settings tab of the Display Properties dialog box opens the Video Display Troubleshooter, which steps you through the troubleshooting process in the event your monitor is experiencing difficulties.
TIP
