Place the mouse pointer anywhere on the taskbar except on a button or on the clock. Then press and hold the left mouse button and drag the taskbar to the location you want.
When you release the mouse button, the taskbar jumps to the new location. To resize the taskbar, drag the Taskbar's border until the taskbar is the size you desire .
When you release the mouse button, the taskbar is resized.
INTRODUCTION
You can resize the taskbar and place it on the top, left, right, or bottom of the screen. Addtionally, you can hide the taskbar so that you have more room on the desktop for other windows , folders, and programs. When you do, the taskbar disappears until you move the mouse to the portion of the screen where the taskbar normally resides.

Move Taskbar Back
To move the taskbar back to the bottom of the screen, drag it to that area.
To instruct Windows XP to hide your taskbar anytime you aren't using it, right-click the taskbar and select Properties from the pop-up menu that appears.
Click the Auto-hide the taskbar check box.
Click the OK button.
The dialog box closes and the taskbar disappears.

Undo the Change
To undo this change, right-click the taskbar to reopen the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window. Click the Auto Hide the taskbar option to remove the check mark. Then click OK .

Use Small Icons
You can use Taskbar and Start Menu Properties dialog box to specify that small icons be displayed and to enable or disable the clock. To do so, check or uncheck these options.

Display Other Toolbars
You can display toolbars in the taskbar. To do so, right-click a blank part of the taskbar and then select Toolbars . Then check the toolbar you want to turn on.
