Printing Pictures

After your pictures are organized, renamed, and touched up (as needed), you can print them on a regular printer, on a special photo printer, or on a regular printer that has special photo printing features. You can also order prints online through a film service company. Windows XP includes wizards for both printing options; you can use these to guide you step by step through the process of printing pictures.

Ordering Photo Prints from the Internet

If you don't get the quality you want from your printer, you can select to order photo shop quality prints from the Internet. Windows XP includes a wizard that leads you step by step through the process of ordering prints from popular print services. You can get pricing information when you order the prints. Also, expect to pay a small shipping charge. For payment, you must supply a credit card number and shipping information. Pictures usually arrive in a couple of days. Some services offer several free prints as a trial run.

tip

You won't get photo-quality pictures with a regular computer printer. You can, however, purchase special photo printers and photo paper. Expect to pay from $100 to $800 or more for a special photo printer. Some new printers are good for both document, color, and photo printing. Visit computer retail stores to see the various options. The best way to pick a printer? Check the actual printouts from various printers to find one with an acceptable print quality.

To order copies from the Internet, you must be connected to it. If you are not connected, you are prompted to do so. When connected, follow these steps to order prints:

2.

Click Order prints online.
