Visualizing the goal gives you a vision with which to inspire people who may work on the project with you. It's all very well you being fired up, but what about the people who are going to work on the project with you “ and for projects of any size there will always be other people involved? Visualizing the goal gives you a vision, a description, of a place somewhere in the future, for which you are all bound. It draws other people into the daydream. There may be dark days ahead “ on most projects there generally are “ and the vision of the goal is what will sustain you and your team during those days. The best example I know of setting your eyes on the prize comes from Martin Luther King's Washington speech in 1963 (Hampton and Freyer, 1990):
