CALCULATING A PROJECT'S PSIThe PSI is a number lying in the range 0 “100, which is assigned to projects using the scoring scheme given in the following section. The PSI can be calculated at any point in a project's life and gives a measure of how likely the project is to complete successfully. The PSI can be calculated in a variety of different ways. An individual (e.g. the project manager or an external consultant) could do an assessment of the project and calculate the PSI using the rules below. Alternatively, a number of people involved in the projects (project leader, team members , management, customers) could be polled for their opinions (say, using a questionnaire) and the results averaged. Who calculates the PSI, who gives input and how the input is gathered “ questionnaire, interview, show of hands(!) “ are all factors that can be considered if you are going to use the PSI. Here I have chosen the quickest and simplest way, i.e. where one person (me!) does an analysis of a given project. |
