Summary

This has been a very busy chapter. You learned the steps for basic photo cleanup, something you should do with every image you open , before you get fancy by applying filters, changing colors, or using any of the hundreds of tricks Elements can do. We explored several methods for removing objects, both large and small, that might distract from the subject of your photo ”and how to add objects that were never there! You learned how to remove red eye, dust, and scratches and how to adjust color, brightness, and contrast. You also learned how to create adjustment layers and layer masks to control how particular adjustments affect your image. We also demonstrated the potential of these techniques with several examples of black-and-white and color photo retouching.
