During the course of this book I'll show you how to create complete audio productions for film, video, and multimedia. In order to better see how Pro Tools fits into the historical context of moviemaking, the first part of this chapter offers a brief history of motion picture and sound technology and how it has evolved over the years .

In the current Information Age, motion pictures and audio have entered the digital realm. The latest technology allows us to use programs like Pro Tools to create all forms of multimedia. I will review some of this relevant technology as it applies to Pro Tools.
